China’s reduced disputed border length increases concern in India

Many in India have expressed anger that China has substantially truncated the length of its disputed border with India to take out the portion represented by Jammu and Kashmir State, although New Delhi is yet to react to this development.

India was reported to have rebuffed China, albeit diplomatically, on two significant issues during Premier Wen Jiabao visit to New Delhi from Dec 15 to 17, namely on regional trading arrangement (RTA) and the “one- China” policy.

India and China exchanged diplomatic platitudes about their bilateral relations and places in the world but gave no indications that any of the mostly China-made issues that had seriously soured their relations recently would be resolved any time soon.
